Internet Explorer Troubleshooting

I just wanted to share to all how to do troubleshooting with Internet Explorer issue specially issue with Internet Explorer 7 upgrade. The reason why I want to share the troubleshooting steps since a lot of my customers gets these kind of issue and end up having reinstalling their operation system (OS).
Anyway, I want to give advice to those who are using windows XP. If you are not technical at all better yet don't upgrade you Internet Explorer to higher version because that will encounter issues in the future. But if you know what your doing then go ahead. You can always run system restore if it will not work. All of these steps will be for windows XP Operating System with Internet Explorer 7 browser upgrade.


How to know if your Internet Explorer is version 7 or version 6.
  1. Open your Internet Explorer browser.
  2. Look for the main menu on top.
  3. Click Help.
  4. Click on about Internet Explorer.Look for the version #.

How to remove Internet Explorer 7 from windows XP Operating System
  1. Click on start.
  2. Go to control panel
  3. Click to open add/remove programs (it will populate all the programs installed in your computer)
  4. Look for 'windows Internet explorer 7.
  5. Highlight IE 7 and click the remove button.

Now if there is no remove button, there is another way for you to be able to remove windows Internet Explorer 7. Just follow the step by step process.
How to manually uninstall Internet Explorer 7.


Step 1: Make hidden files and hidden folders visible
  1. Click on Start, and then click my Documents
  2. On the tools menu, click folder options
  3. click the view tab
  4. In the advanced settings list, under Hidden Files and folders, click Show Hidden files and folders, and then click on OK.

Step 2: Run Spuninst.exe to uninstall Internet Explorer 7
  1. Click Start, and then click Run.
  2. In the Open box, type %windir%\ie7\spuninst\spuninst.exe, and then click OK
  3. Follow the wizard instructions to uninstall Internet Explorer 7.
  4. After uninstalling Internet Explorer 7, double-click the Internet Explorer icon to verify that Internet Explorer 6 is restore

These are all the troubleshooting steps that you have to do. Just make sure you are using a windows XP operating system and that you follow the step by step instructions. I will also post some other basic troubleshooting steps in the next few days.
