Basic Network Connection

Network is a series of computers or devices connected or linked together. A computer network is a set of computers or devices connected to each other with the ability to exchange date. Computer Network is common in offices, schools, and even households.

Networking is derived from the root word network where a series of computers and devices are linked together. There are many type of Network like: LAN, WAN, CAN, MAN and HAN. The most commonly used network are the LAN, WAN and wireless LAN and WAN. They are present in offices, schools, homes and even public places.

Let me explain to you further the LAN and Wireless LAN. It is the most commonly used connection in todays generation.

Local Area Network (LAN): is a small network located in the same area.

Wide Area Network (WAN): is a larger network in a larger area.

Wireless LAN and WAN is the wireless equivalent of LAN and WAN.

LAN is the common household connection and it is the connection usually used in the office. It has a faster connection and encounters lesser interference since its connected via wire and its a direct connection. The cable thats being used is called either and Ethernet or a cat5 cable. Other LAN connection also uses fiber optics cables but its much expensive that the Ethernet thats why the Ethernet cable is the commonly used cable.

WLAN is a wireless equivalent of LAN. Wireless means no wires. The trend today is using the wireless connection since a lot of wireless devices has been release in the market today. The advantage of having a wireless connection is that the you can use the wireless device without the hassles of having a cable attached to it. You can bring the wireless device or the wireless computer anywhere in you convenience. The connection speed of the wireless device also is a bit faster but when its not as fast as the LAN connection. The reason for having a slower speed compared to LAN because there are a lot interference and network traffic in the area and that causes the connection to slow down.

Using the LAN and its equivalent has its own advantage and disadvantages. Its up to the user on which of the connection they prefer to use. Its the connection that can give benefit to the user itself. The main goal of having the LAN and WLAN connection to broaden the connection and not only limit to its description.
